Estimated for that one, 250,000. Below: Aerial view of the Mall. The MLK speech was at the far end (top of picture) between the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument. The 9/12 rally was at the near end, between the capitol and the Washington Monument. The latter space is, as you can see, quite a bit larger.

In fact, after the Million Man March in 1995, Congress restricted the National Park Service from even making estimates — a restriction that was maintained for 14 years and then quietly rescinded this January for the Obama inauguration.
